Apertur: Collect Photos From Any Phone — No App, Just a QR Code

July 27, 2026 · 2 min read

Apertur — collect photos from any phone with a QR code, a SaaS built by Fennix

Collecting a photo from a customer or field worker sounds trivial — until you actually build it. Native apps nobody wants to install, email attachments that get lost, uploads that arrive rotated, blurry, or nowhere at all. Photo collection is one of those "small" problems that quietly eats weeks of engineering time.

Apertur makes it disappear. Built and operated by Fennix, Apertur turns a simple QR code into a friction-free, in-browser photo upload that lands exactly where you need it — no app, no account for the person taking the picture, and no photos sitting on our servers.

How Apertur works

Someone scans your QR code (or taps a link). Their phone browser opens a clean capture screen — no download, no login. They take or choose a photo, crop and adjust it right there, and Apertur delivers the finished image straight to your destination in real time. That's the entire experience for the end user: scan, snap, done.

Built for developers and real workflows

  • No app required — the whole capture and edit flow runs in any modern mobile browser, so adoption is instant.
  • Deliver anywhere — send images to your own webhook, Amazon S3, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Azure, Box, FTP and more than a dozen destinations in total.
  • We never store your photos — images are delivered directly to your systems, which keeps your privacy footprint small and your compliance story simple.
  • Client-side editing — crop, rotate and adjust before upload, so you get usable images the first time.
  • Real-time status — server-sent events let you track processing as it happens.

Security that holds up to scrutiny

Apertur was built for teams that take data seriously. Webhooks are HMAC-signed so you can verify every payload. Sensitive flows can use end-to-end encryption (RSA-OAEP with AES-256-GCM), TOTP authentication and IP restrictions. And because Apertur doesn't retain the images, there's simply less to protect. Canadian privacy compliance is baked in, not bolted on.

Easy to integrate

Official SDKs for Node.js and PHP, a sandbox mode for testing, and signed webhooks mean you can wire Apertur into an existing product in an afternoon rather than a sprint. There's a free tier to start, with paid plans that raise session limits, images per session and webhook retry windows as you grow.

Where it fits

Insurance claims, field service documentation, customer onboarding, marketplace listings, proof-of-delivery, damage reports — anywhere you need a photo from someone who isn't going to install your app, Apertur is the shortest path from "please send a picture" to a clean image in your system.

Try Apertur — or let Fennix build it in for you

Because Fennix builds and runs Apertur, we can do more than hand you an API key. We'll help you design the capture flow, wire it into your product and destinations, and make sure it holds up in production. Start free on your own, or bring us the workflow and we'll integrate it end to end.
